Parent Volunteers Honored for Dedication and Service
MVSD’s parent volunteers enjoyed a morning of awards, refreshments and entertainment at the District’s Annual Parent Recognition Reception held June 3.
Approximately 150 certificates were presented to parents from each of the 12 school sites, Head Start Program and Migrant Education Program. Board of Education members and district administrators were on hand to thank and congratulate the parents for their exceptional service.
“We are honored to be here today to recognize you,” said Lillian Maldonado French, superintendent. “You are a very important part of our schools’ success and what you do truly makes a difference in the lives of our students. We are very grateful for your continued support and willingness to be our partners in the educational process as together we strive to ensure that all Mountain View students continue to achieve.”
The crowd enjoyed entertainment by kindergartners from Twin Lakes School who enthusiastically sang The Fifty Nifty United States and the school’s upper grade students, dressed as flowers, bees, caterpillars, and butterflies who performed an interpretive dance for the Earth. Rounding off the entertainment was Voorhis School’s Ballet Folklorico Dancers, clad in their beautiful costumes who performed two festive dances.
MVSD’s parents provide tremendous support to the schools through assistance in classrooms, playground supervision, field trip supervision, office assistance, decorating for special events, fund raising, and participation on district and school site committees. They are an integral part of the Mountain View team and contribute greatly to the success of the District.
“Congratulations to all of you and thank you for the important work you do which benefits our students greatly,” said Angelica Sifuentes-Donoso, Director of English Learners and Parent Programs. “Your support and assistance is vital to our schools and we appreciate your efforts immensely.”
