Parkview School’s Volunteers Treated to a Garden Party in Appreciation for Their Many Hours of Service
Parkview Elementary School teachers, classified staff and administrators showed their appreciation for the school’s hard working volunteers at a special volunteer appreciation luncheon. The Garden Party themed event honored Parkview’s volunteers, affectionately known as the “Parkview Pals” for their dedication and service to the school for the 2009-2010 school year.
The school cafeteria was transformed into a beautiful garden with flowers, plants and balloon caterpillars adorning the walls, tables and stage. Staff members provided and served the delicious lunch and several raffle prizes were given away.
“We are so happy to honor our wonderful volunteers,” said Frances Mathis, Parkview’s Library Technician. “They are vital members of our Parkview family and they do so much for our school.”
Parkview Pals provide support and assistance in the classrooms, library, and office and are a tremendous help with special events and fund raising.
“The volunteers honored today have each contributed over 500 hours to our school this year,” said Dianne Villagran, teacher. They do a phenomenal job and our entire staff is really proud of their efforts and appreciative of their dedication.”
According to second grade teacher, Connie Gonzalez, the work the volunteers do allow the teachers to concentrate more on instruction.
“I am so appreciative of our volunteers,” said Gonzalez. “I am fortunate to have Irene Fermin, a parent volunteer every Monday for two and half hours. She runs copies for me and performs other tasks that allow me to spend more time on planning and looking at data. She is wonderful and I greatly appreciate all she does for me and my students.”
This is Fermin’s first year at Parkview and she is happy to help out.
“I really like this school and I like to help out in any way I can,” said Fermin. “Being at the school helps me keep an eye on my child and it also makes the kids proud of me for helping out.”
