Magnolia Learning Center’s THINK Together students and families celebrated Lights On Afterschool, an annual event to increase awareness of the importance of afterschool programs for youth. The participants put their culinary skills to use as they took part in a Harvest of the Month nutrition lesson and made a fresh fruit salad.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Walmart Foundation in partnership with the National Summer Learning Association, 400 sixth through eighth grade students in the Mountain View School District had the opportunity to participate in the THINK Together Summer Learning Program. The 20-day program centered on the popular book, The Hunger Games and engaged students in standards based reading, comprehension, writing, math, science and enrichment classes based around the book.
The school libraries at Cogswell School, Payne School and Parkview School will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June 19 through July 12 for summer reading enrichment and fun.
