MVSD Honors Retiring Employees with Roaring 20's Themed Celebration

The Mountain View School District “Put on the Ritz” for a Roaring 20’s themed Retirement Social celebrating the distinguished careers of seven retirees. 

     Honored for their many years of dedicated service to the students and families of the Mountain View School District were Donna Freedman-Teacher-36 years; John Wynn-Teacher-24 years; Ana Estrada-Teacher-33 years in education, 30 with MVSD; Nicholas McKinin-Teacher-32 years in education, 14 with MVSD; Maureen O’Hearn-Dean of Instruction-38 years; Catarina Spiess-Teacher-40 years in education, 35 with MVSD; and Susan Hernandez-Teacher-38 years in education, 37 with MVSD.

        On behalf of the Board of Education and the District, each retiree received an engraved golden bell, and they were presented with certificates of commendation from Assemblyman Ed Chau, Senator Ed Hernandez, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano and the El Monte City Council.

      Tributes by colleagues, highlighting the retirees’ careers, completed the special Roaring 20’s themed afternoon event.

          “Congratulations to all of our outstanding retirees,” said Lillian Maldonado French, Superintendent. 

     “We are extremely grateful for your many years of dedicated service to the Mountain View School District, and for the positive and profound influence you have had on our students and families over the years.  You will be missed as you embark on the next chapter in your lives and I wish you all the best in your retirement.”

         Board of Education president, Adam Carranza thanked the retirees for their many years of dedicated service to the students, families, and community.

        “On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to thank you for your hard work and commitment to our  District, our schools, our students and our families.  Your dedicated efforts to provide the best for our students is greatly appreciated and over your many years of service you have touched the lives and inspired so many students which is the greatest reward.  You are all deserving of a wonderful retirement and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” he said.

      Appreciation and acknowledgements were also given to this year’s retirees who were unable to attend the event including Michelle Beltran-Food Service Worker; Cynthia Braun-Teacher; Amanda Castaneda.-Teacher; Christopher Cornell-Teacher; Barbara Gajdos-Teacher; Hugo Mendoza-Teacher; Norma Ocariz Mendoza-Teacher; Angelina Portugal-Lead Food Service Worker; and Rebeca Romero-Teacher.
