Board of Education Members Sworn In

MVSD hosted a swearing-in reception and ceremony for re-elected Board of Education Members, Adam Carranza and Veronica Sifuentes, and newly elected Board of Education Member, Cindy Wu.

Carranza was re-elected for a third term and was sworn in by fellow Board member, Jacqueline Saldaña.    Sifuentes is beginning her second term on the Board and was sworn in by El Monte City Council Member, Victoria Martinez.  Swearing in Wu for her first term on the Board was El Monte Mayor, Andre Quintero.

“This is a momentous event that inspires me so much,” said MVSD Superintendent, Lillian Maldonado French.  “Every elected official in the United States takes this same oath of office as they begin their service.  It’s such a noble and tremendous honor to represent the people and we thank all elected officials for what they do.”

A proclamation was presented to the three honorees by Florencio Briones on behalf of State Supervisor, Hilda Solis, as family, friends and MVSD staff members gathered to celebrate the special occasion.

Sifuentes expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the MVSD community for another four years.

“The past four years have been very exciting for me and I’m so grateful to the community for re-electing me and I look forward to continuing the collaborative work of Team Mt. View as we continue the progressive movement of our District,” said Sifuentes.

Carranza is honored to serve his third term on the Board and work on behalf of the students, families and community.

“I’m excited to see what the next four years hold and as I look back at the work we’ve done together it’s the love and passion in all employees and family members that truly helps our students succeed,” said Carranza.  “I see my story in our students and I care deeply about them and the families we serve.”

As a first time Board Member, Wu is honored to join the Board and make a difference in the lives of students.

“Access to education is so important and I’m eager to join the Board and represent the community,” said Wu.  “I look forward to working together with my fellow Board Members, the teachers, staff and parents to ensure Mountain View’s students get the best education possible.”

Completing MVSD’s five-member Board of Education are Christian Diaz and Jacqueline Saldaña, who along with Carranza, Sifuentes and Wu are all are proud to serve the community and look forward to working collaboratively as Team Mt.
