Students Welcomed Back to School Virtually

The Mountain View School District kicked off the 2020-2021 school year, Monday, August 17, and even though it was different from any first day of school in the past, there was still an air of excitement and anticipation for a great school year.  Students were welcomed back virtually with open arms, as the District looks forward to continuing its mission of inspiring each student to succeed every day.

MVSD’s 12 school site administrators kicked off the first day of school with an assembly introducing teachers and staff from their school site, and reviewing the Distance Learning instructional program.

“While our entire MVSD team misses our students tremendously and would love to have them on campus, until it is safe to physically return, our team of dedicated administrators, teachers and support staff are ready to provide a robust distance learning program aimed at having every student engaged and learning,” said Lillian Maldonado French, Superintendent.    “We are committed to providing our students and families the tools they need to be successful academically, emotionally and socially, she added.

During Distance Learning, MVSD is continuing to provide meals for students enrolled in the District, preschool through 8th grade, including the Early Preschool Home-Based programs. The one-day-a-week, 5 Day Meal Packs are distributed each Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cogswell, Kranz, Madrid, Payne, and Twin Lakes schools.  To ensure all MVSD students have access, student identification (ID) numbers are required.

Despite challenging conditions we face across the nation, MVSD looks forward to a great school year and is approaching this unprecedented time in education with enthusiasm and passion to make this a successful experience for all of its students.
