ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN VIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Mountain View School District is a K-8 district located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley and proudly serves approximately 4,700 students at eight schools, as well as the educational needs of approximately 415 infant through preschool children and families through its highly engaging Head Start State Preschool and Children’s Center programs. Full Day Kindergarten and Full Day Transitional Kindergarten is offered as seven school sites.

MVSD prepares today's students and tomorrow's leaders for success by providing core academics with 21st century skills. We are committed to the development of the whole child and providing not only instructional support to ensure students are learning, but also social/emotional support to ensure they are ready to learn. MVSD is proud to have school counselors, mental health interns and counseling interns at every school site supporting students and families.
MVSD prepares students to be competitive in a diverse 21st Century global society by offering a variety of programs including STEAM, Project Lead the Way, AVID, Sobrato Early Academic Language (SEAL), extensive technology learning including in school 1:1 technology devices, Spanish Dual Language Immersion program, Mandarin Enrichment Program, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), comprehensive Visual and Performing Arts, Band program, a strong college-bound culture, after school enrichment including robotics, sports, art, and Mandarin and Spanish language programs, nationally recognized nutrition and health education, nationally recognized family engagement program and a Golden Bell award-winning Parent Leadership Academy.
Working in partnership, our employees, parents, families and community members actively participate in the educational development of our students, providing them with a solid foundation of skills that inspires lifelong learning and prepares them for the next level.

Improving school, family, and community partnerships continues to be a priority for the Mountain View School District. The District incorporates the “Achievement-Focused Family Engagement” program, a research-based framework and operational model for connecting programs of school, family and community partnership directly to each school’s academic goals. Each of our schools has a school site Partnership Action Team who plans, implements, evaluates and continually improves family and community involvement activities creating a welcoming school climate and helping all students succeed. MVSD is proud of its award-winning and nationally recognized Parent Education and Involvement Program and offers several workshops, conferences, meetings and educational opportunities for parents to participate in throughout the school year.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Mountain View School District serves a predominantly Hispanic population in the communities of El Monte, with a population of100,000, and South El Monte, with a population of 25,000. El Monte is a historic community that provides a quiet place to live within easy commuting distance of virtually every type of recreation and entertainment. The mountains, beaches, desert and metropolitan areas are all accessible by one of three interstate freeways, a general aviation airport or a rapid transit system.
