Christian Diaz was elected to the Board of Education in November, 2015. He is the youngest of five siblings and the son of two hard working individuals who emigrated from Mexico in the pursuit of a better future for their children. Mr. Diaz has been a resident of El Monte since his birth and has grown up witnessing the many challenges, development and opportunities our community has faced within the last few years.
Mr. Diaz is a product of the Mountain View School District schools and attended Mountain View High School. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology and a minor in Chicano/a Studies. He then pursued his Juris Doctorate and a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Southern California and is currently working at Huntington Health an Affiliate of Cedars Sinai as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and holds an oncology social work certification and serves as coordinator for the social work student intern program at the hospital.
Mr. Diaz has served on various community organizations in the past and currently serves as Board Chair for Hope House for the Multiple-Handicapped, Inc. in the city of El Monte and is also a proud mentor for students via the Partnership Scholars Program. Mr. Diaz believes in the value of building relationships and is committed to provide opportunities such as the one’s he had and more for the students in our community.
