Term: 2022 - 2026
Cindy Wu was elected to the Mountain View School District Board of Education in November 2018. Ms. Wu is a trailblazer and has overcome many challenges in her life. She came here not speaking a word of English, and because of the support she received from her parents and teachers, who made her feel like she could succeed no matter the obstacles, she is living the American Dream. She is passionate and has the tools to help move the district forward. “Our students deserve better, and the younger they are educated, the easier it will be for them to access higher education,” she said during a speech. She is a problem solver who is ready to find creative solutions to add value to the district.
For the last 20 years, Wu has dedicated her life to furthering education. She has 20 years of experience in education, business, and real estate including teaching third to fifth-grade art for an after-school program through the Getty Museum, serving as a Training Director in charge of hiring teachers, setting the curriculum, teaching language and serving on the board of directors for a language school. For the last 10 years, she’s coached children ages 5 and up and continues to do so, she is a guest lecturer at Citrus College and Glendale College and is the Commissioner Emeritus for Disabled Students, Cable Services and the Planning Department.
Ms. Wu sympathizes with kids in the district, so many of whom are English learners. As an immigrant child herself, her parents left everything they knew to give their children a better life and a better education, and she benefited directly from that. She is proud to say through perseverance and hard work she became the first in her family to graduate from a university - USC, and UCLA, she also attended Stanford University and Beijing University.
She has been to over 35 countries worldwide and has lived and worked in Australia, Japan, China, and the United States. Her life motto is Pay-it-Forward, she is passionate about making a difference in this world and leaving a legacy.
